David Kaplan: Yes
Synopsis
Mismatched cousins reunite for a tour of Poland to honor the memory of their beloved grandmother. The adventure takes a new turn when the odd couple’s old contradictions surface against the background of their family history. When Benjy and David visit their grandmother’s house in Poland, this is the place where Jesse Eisenberg’s real ancestors settled in the diaspora.. Benjy Kaplan: We keep moving, we stay light, we stay nimble. Benji Kaplan: The conductor will come and take the tickets, we will tell him that we are going to the toilet.
David Kaplan: Toilet
Benjy Kaplan: He gets to the tail of the train and starts moving towards the head in search of those who are left behind. David Kaplan: Excuse me, are we behind? Benjy Kaplan: Yes. By the time he gets to the start, the train will be at the station, and we will be home free. David Kaplan: That’s so damn stupid.
This is our country
Tickets probably cost twelve bucks. Benji Kaplan: That’s the principle. We do not have to pay for train tickets in Poland. David Kaplan: No, it’s not like that, it was our country. They kicked us out because they thought we were cheap..
it was much more
Featured on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #46.44 (2024). I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I know it wasn’t that… The entire film is filled with a wide range of emotions, from sadness, happiness, anger, shock, embarrassment and cringe to small laughs and, finally, the pain that builds towards the end. This is my first time watching a film directed by Jesse Eisenberg, and I went to it mainly because I liked his performance in other films. One thing can be said for sure: he will not disappoint.
The plot is interesting, without unnecessary fillers and characters that lack depth
I encourage everyone who is even slightly interested to watch it and form their own opinion about it. It lasts only 90 minutes, but you may have some questions to think about.
